Peter and Jenny Tait and all the crew at White Island welcome you to one of the most amazing natural experiences in New Zealand, a fully guided walking tour of White Island, New Zealand's only live marine volcano.
A Unique Experience
This unique and amazing 6 hour experience includes a comfortable 80 minute boat journey out to the island on one of two purpose built launches, the 60ft PeeJay IV and the 73ft PeeJay V.
On the way out to the island the crew will issue everyone with safety equipment, which consists of a hard hat and gas mask, and upon arrival at White Island PeeJay will anchor and you will ferry over to the island via inflatable boat.
You will spend 1½ – 2 hours walking and touring the inner crater area of White Island. The experienced tour guides will take you through the remains of an historic sulphur mining factory where you will see the bright yellow sulphur crystals. You will view hissing fumaroles, spluttering mud pots and pink lava bombs and you will also be able to venture right up to the main crater’s edge to peer down into the steaming and bubbling crater lake.
A Fascinating walking tour
During the summer, if conditions permit, you may be able to go for a swim whilst out at the island so be sure to take your swimming gear!
After your fascinating walking tour, lunch will be served onboard before heading back to the mainland. On the return journey you will see a variety of bird life, and if dolphins, whales or the NZ fur seal are spotted, you will be able to spend time with them as White Island Tours have a permit to view the marine life.
Now we have completed our trip it is clear that you are entitled to call yourself an expert on travel in New Zealand. Many people we encountered during our time away were very impressed with some of the places we had visited on your recommendation. What was also deeply satisfying was the high regard you are held in by the hosts and trip organisers you had arranged for us to use. Your considerable skill and efforts have ensured that we have experienced the most wonderful trip we will never forget. (If the memory starts to fade a little bit we have many many photographs to remind us!) Thanks again Paul ,Very kind regards, Carole and Andy Walker
